Dispatch Me Home

The Story of an American Trucker

About Us:

Dispatch Me Home was written so that we could revisit, recreate, and enhance the image of the American trucker who drives our highways and byways 24/7. We want to give him a renewed swagger in his step. If there was ever an American original, it was the American Truck driver.

Dispatch Me Home is the story of a gentleman truck driver, Sam Morris, better known as Sam The Man.

Sam the Man is a throw back to the Golden Age of Trucking. Back then, if you found yourself stranded while driving cross-country, you could always count on a 'white knight of the road' to pull over and offer assistance. Now, with the modernization of the trucking industry, and the 'just in time' shipping options, a trucker will lose more than just some skin off his knuckles while changing a tire for you. Penalties for pulling up late to the loading dock can be pretty stiff.

For many men and women trucking is still a noble profession, and not just another job. Why else, would so many capable drivers choose to spend so much quality time away from their families? Even with the faster pace of today's industry and sometimes unrealistic demands, you can still count on a certain segment of our population to wake up every morning, climb out of the sleeper, or, for the lucky ones; a nice warm bed, warm up their diesel and prepare to go down the road for us. Not many careers take you away from your loved ones as much as trucking does. It takes a strong driver and a stronger family, to meet the demands of this chosen life style. As Sam himself might say, " If you are doing it right- it's not going to be easy".

The trucking industry is now approximately 20,000 long haul drivers short. That figure may climb to well over 100,000, according to some estimates in the coming years. Many will choose trucking as a simple option to pay the bills, others will see the freedom and entrepreneurship trucking offers, and select trucking as a profession. There will always be a driver turnover in the industry, but like any profession, the cream will always rise to the top.

We may be going through some tough economic times right now, and as the economy slows, so do our wheels. But they'll never stop turning, as we need them to get us through the challenges ahead. When this recession turns around and it will, you'll see a trucker at the front, leading the charge back to a stronger more competitive America.

We hope you'll enjoy sitting shot-gun as Sam and Chloe make their last run together. We're looking forward to airing Dispatch Me Home on radio stations across the US in the coming months, as well as making Sam's stories available on audio books. Ultimately, we would like to present Dispatch Me Home on theater screens nationwide, to young and old, 2 wheelers to 18 wheelers, and everyone in between.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to hearing from you as we go down this road together.

Keep on Trucking!
